Colonial

ColonialMost early colonial homes built in New Zealand in the 1800s have long since disappeared, but if you are lucky enough (or unlucky depending on the condition) to own one of these early gems and want to add leadlight windows appropriate for the era, you won't find it difficult to make a choice. Windows from this period usually consisted of panels of muted coloured rectangles and squares of textured glass in soft golds, greens and pinks.  The use of rondels (glass circles) and hand painted panels featuring birds and flowers alongside these glasses was usually for the wealthier home owners.

While we don't handpaint glass at Bruce Bell Leadlight and Artworks we can recreate panels sympathetic to the era using our special stocks of old and reproduced glass, and we can even source the odd rondell or two if necessary.
